How do I connect a Grok bot (or any 24/7 bot) to SEOBetter?
A bot that runs on its own, such as a Grok agent on a server, connects to your WordPress site with one bot key. You don't need a username, an Application Password or a desktop app.
What you need
- SEOBetter Pro, Pro+, Agency or any lifetime licence, active on the site
- WordPress 6.9 or newer, on HTTPS
- The SEOBetter Agent add-on 0.3.0 or newer, and the free WordPress MCP Adapter
Step by step
- In WordPress, open SEOBetter, then Settings. In the AI assistants (MCP) box, install the SEOBetter Agent add-on and the free MCP Adapter.
- Open SEOBetter, then AI bot access. The three checks at the top should all show a tick: HTTPS, licence and MCP Adapter.
- Under Create a bot key, fill in:
- Name: for example "Grok bot".
- Acts as user: the bot does what this WordPress user can do. Pick an Administrator if the bot should read traffic and run keyword research.
- Articles per day: how many new articles the bot may start each day.
- Keyword research calls per day: each call spends on your DataForSEO account.
- Mode: start with Drafts only.
- Click Create key. Copy the key now; it is shown once.
- Copy the Grok block into the tools list your bot sends to the xAI API. It contains your site's MCP address and the key.
- Any other bot: give it the MCP server URL and the header
Authorization: Bearerfollowed by the key.
Check it worked
Back on AI bot access, the key's Last used time updates when the bot connects. The Today column counts articles and research calls.
Drafts only and Publish
In Drafts only, the bot can research, write and save drafts. It cannot publish, schedule, trash or change posts that are already live. Read its drafts for a week, then switch the key to Publish in the key list.
To stop a bot, click Revoke next to its key. It can no longer connect.
