How do I let my bot improve my old posts?
Your bot can go through the posts you already have, apply the fixes SEOBetter suggests and tell you how much each score went up. WordPress keeps the previous version of every post it changes, so you can always roll back.
What you need
- SEOBetter Pro, Pro+, Agency or any lifetime licence, active on the site
- SEOBetter Pro 2.0.8 and the SEOBetter Agent add-on 0.4.0 or newer
- A bot connected with a bot key (see "How do I connect a Grok bot"), or an assistant connected with an Application Password
Step by step
- In WordPress, open SEOBetter, then AI bot access.
- Find your bot's key in the key list. In its row, change the drop-down from Drafts only to Publish. A key in Drafts only cannot change a post that is already published, so the bot would be refused on every live post.
- In the same row, check the third number box, Post edits per day (hover over a box to see its name). It is 50 by default. Every fix, optimise or refresh the bot makes counts as one edit; when the bot reaches the limit it stops until midnight in your site's time zone.
- Click Save at the end of the row.
- Scroll to Give your bot a routine and click Copy routine under Improve my old posts.
- Paste the routine into your bot's instructions, or send it as a message to your assistant.
What the bot does
The routine tells the bot to read the site's to-do list, take the lowest scoring posts first and, for each one, list the suggested fixes and run the optimiser once. It stops after 8 posts, or as soon as it reaches its daily limit, and finishes with a table of each post with its old and new score, plus a list of anything it skipped and why.
If you only want certain fixes, say so in your message. The bot then applies just those fixes instead of running the full optimiser.
Check it worked
Open any post the bot changed and look at Revisions in the editor sidebar. The newest revision is the bot's change; the one before is your original. The SEOBetter box in the editor shows the new score.
Other routines
The same page has two more routines with copy buttons: Write today's post writes one new article and saves it as a draft, and Weekly health check looks for problems and reports them without changing anything.
