My bot cannot connect, or stops partway through
Work through these in order. The AI bot access page under SEOBetter shows most of the answers.
- "Last used" says never. The bot is not reaching the site with the key. Check the URL ends in
/wp-json/mcp/mcp-adapter-default-server, the site uses HTTPS, and the key was copied in full (it starts withsbk_). - One of the three checks shows a cross. Fix that first: the site must be on HTTPS, the SEOBetter licence must be active, and the WordPress MCP Adapter plugin must be active.
- "This bot key has started its articles for today." The daily article limit was reached. It resets at midnight in the site's time zone, or raise the limit in the key list.
- "This bot key has made its keyword research calls for today." The daily research limit was reached. Each call spends on your DataForSEO account, so raise it with care.
- "This bot key is set to drafts only." The bot tried to publish, schedule, trash or change a live post. Switch the key to Publish if you want that.
- The bot cannot see the traffic or keyword tools. The key acts as a user who is not an Administrator. Create a new key that acts as an Administrator. Keyword tools also need Keyword Research installed and a Pro+, Agency or lifetime licence.
- Traffic is empty. Connect Google Search Console in SEOBetter settings. SEOBetter saves daily snapshots, so the first figures appear after its next daily sync.
- A key may have leaked. Click Revoke next to it and create a new one.
